C.R. 57' Non-corridor Coach Kits

57' 8 wheel non-corridor stock built 1920-23.

These coaches were contempories of the 57' Corridor range.

This non-corridor stock was used extensively around Glasgow and Lanarkshire on commuter trains, often formed into 3 coach Scottish Inter-district (SID) sets as BT+C+BT. They, of course, also saw service on other parts of the system. Again originally only Westinghouse fitted, examples of all types lasted well into B.R. days having been vacuum fitted by the L.M.S. in the 1930s.

Caledonian Railway Coat of Arms

"Wha dare meddle wi' me" - a loose translation of the Scottish motto (nemo me impune lacessit, litterly meaning "no-one provokes me with impunity") which was appropriated along with the Scottish coat of arms (without any sanction from the Lord Lyon, King of Arms) by the Caledonian Railway Co.
